The Sandwich Attack Overlay: This one's particularly nasty. Consider platforms that accept stablecoins directly. The cleanest solution is using a betting platform that accepts USDC or USDT as a native wagering currency, eliminating the need for a volatile-pair swap entirely. More decentralized platforms are moving this direction precisely because the slippage problem hurts user experience.

The Bottom Line for US Crypto Bettors

Decentralized wagering offers real advantages — transparency, self-custody, and censorship resistance among them. But the DEX infrastructure that powers these platforms comes with friction that centralized sportsbooks simply don't have. Slippage is one of the most consistent and underappreciated forms of that friction.

Think of it this way: in traditional betting, the house edge is visible and fixed. On a decentralized platform, the house edge is transparent — but the infrastructure edge, including slippage, is invisible unless you know where to look. Knowing where to look is half the battle.
